The Postcard Album
Welcome to TPA
Introduction
"The Postcard Album" (TPA), an international magazine for collectors of old picture postcards (ppc’s), is around for more than 35 years by now. Strictly a hobby project, non-commercial, published when time and budget allows.
TPA covers various aspects of interest to ppc collectors. Research on old, long gone (German) postcard printers and publishers has become the major topic. A specialised aspect of the collecting hobby which was often long neglected. Identification of long gone printers/publishers, reconstructing company histories, collecting data on their ppc production and any related matters including postcard finds and trivia. As well as old printing processes. The world of old cards covers almost every topic you can think of. Any questions? Please let me know.
The (printed) magazine with usually 80 pages content does include also articles by writers/collectors from other countries. See TPA Magazine for more details and available issues.
The purpose of this site is not only to introduce and promote the printed magazine. Presented are company logos of the long gone picture postcard trade, some general information, but the focus is on company histories. Usually in a short form as I learned that most do not appreciate lenghty articles. Nevertheless depending on the information available and to my best knowledge. Any corrections or additional details welcome.
Under Articles Download you find a bigger selection of articles (pdf-files) from old/sold-out TPA issues. On various companies, topics and research results. Some of unique nature. Learn what it is all about. Available free for private use.
This new TPA web site replaces the old version first launched way back in 2008. Some of the old content was worked over and included again. Others left out. Times have changed. So did the ppc collectors world and research becoming an individualistical matter. The visual site content was given more room and better handling. Although in general I strongly believe in "Less is More".
More material will be added regularly. Make sure to visit TPA-project.info from time to time again.
Thank you!

"Teuta" Margarine trade cards. Series 8.
Above shown 10 graphic trade views (complete set) are NOT picture postcards, but trade cards size 110 x 71 mm. Issued by Fritz Homann A.G., Dissen, for their "Teuta" magarine in the late 1930's.
Most of you will know the often colourful "Liebig" or "Oxo" trade cards or any other the many 1000's of other cards issued by various trades. Usually given away free with purchase of product.
Although a different collecting field, I decided to have them here because it shows views from graphic trade in the style of the times then. I have worked in graphic trade all my life, so it is perhaps a touch of nostalgia.
I promise that the other content of this site is on "postcards" and related topics!
